SBC Week 6 Quotes: Activity 1

Hi, it’s me hmsshayann, and I will be showing you the quote that I choose.

I chose this quote because I think this kind of relates to my life because when I learn something new, I should tie a knot and make sure that I understand the topic. So I can use it in real life.

I made this quote using the website called Quozio.

SBC Week 5 Free Choice : My Weekend

Hi, it’s me hmsshayann and today I will be talking about my weekend.

On Saturday, I had an art class at the Honolulu Museum of Arts School and it was fun. It was supposed to be the day where we go to the museum across the street but it was canceled, and I think we are supposed to go this coming up week I think. But we got the choice to finish up anything to do with clay because I am taking the clay class. Or, you can start glazing (paint your project). I was finishing up the piggies that I was making for a couple of friends who came before but one of them did another class while her sister took the same class as me. I was sad because they were moving to Texas. But I have her older sisters e-mail so I can ask her what is her new address so we can mail their projects.

On Sunday,  I hung out with hmsnorika, we had fun. We went to Ala Moana and shopped a bit. I got a swimsuit from Old Navy. I was happy that it fit because it took quite a long time to find the size that fits. It was so cute and I wore it later on in the day. Then we walked around a bit and then we had lunch. We went to the Lanai for lunch. I had Udon and her and her mom had sushi. It was really good. Then we walked to Macy’s (across the Lanai) and we said hi to my grandma who works at Clinique. Then we looked at the Kipling bags and I found this super cute backpack. It is like a metallic pink. I loved it so much. Then I asked my grandma if I could get it because it was on clearance and I think you get an extra 20% off, plus her employee discount. Then we went to Kakaako and took pictures. They turned out really good, I really liked how they turned out.

After that, we went back to hmsnorika house to go swimming! It was a lot of fun. Once we were done, we had a snack and then we played on her turn board and hoverboard. It was fun and I now want them. We then went to dinner in Waikiki. But first, we had to go to H&M to look and maybe shop. We both found a really cute top and we both got it. Then we went to dinner in a place called Yokochiyo. It’s a pretty cool place to be because if you order the ramen, there is a bowl with seaweed, lime, and the handmade ramen noodles. Then another bowl comes and there is the dipping sauce for the noodles. it’s not your typical kind of ramen. The noodles taste so much better, and the dipping sauce is so good. I loved that restaurant but it is kind of noisy and there is bad internet.

On Monday, we had the day off because it was Buddha Day. So I went to my grandparents’ house and just stayed home. It was great because I was out almost the whole day, so I got to relax. But I got to bake. So the first time I used the wrong type of butter, instead of using the stick, I used the spreadable butter. So when I tried the cookies, it had a gritty texture and it didn’t taste right. So then my grandma said, we can make brownies. So then we made brownies, the good thing was that you didn’t need butter. So then the brownies turned out well, and we gave them to the owner of the building that my grandparents live in. My weekend was really good.

SBC Week 4 Activity 1 : Lack of Water

Hi guys, it’s me hmsshayann, and today I will be talking about the lack of water.

We should be fortunate that we have clean water because not everyone in the world has clean and fresh water to drink. 2.6 billion people lack water sanitation. About 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water. Water scarcity already affects four out of every 10 people. Currently, about 2.3 people worldwide, who still doesn’t have the basic sanitation facilities. That’s really sad and bad because those people don’t have clean water to drink and use.

Water is very important in everyone’s lives. When you drink dirty water, people can get sick from the unclean water. Today, 1 in 9 people lack the access to safe water. If there is clean water, there is an opportunity for improved health and the ability to help fight against diseases. Children are responsible for collecting water for their families, but that takes away time away from school and play. The access to safe water can save time, giving families more time to pursue education and work opportunities that will help break the cycle of poverty.

Water also isn’t just for drinking, it’s used for food production and preparation, care of domestic animals, personal hygiene, care of the sick, cleaning, washing and waste disposal. There are many important uses of water, not just drinking. We should appreciate the clean water that we have because not everyone had clean water to drink and use.

All about my Avatar! 🐕

Hey guys, it’s me hmsshayann,

Today I will be talking about my avatar and how it represents me. I usually have my hair down, but sometimes I have it in a low ponytail or a high ponytail. I have brown eyes and like flowers. Especially as backgrounds or drawing it. I love purple, pink, teal, blue, yellow, white, and black. I wanted to make sure that those colors and the flowers were in my avatar because I love all those things and I wanted to make sure that it was there. I usually wear my black and pink Nikes, or my black and white high – top Vans. In my avatar, my shoes look a little bit like the ones you would see in an older play from maybe the 90’s but I thought they were the closest to my black and white high – top Vans. I really liked how my avatar come out and I think it represents me a lot.

Until then, bye

Core Classes – Math

Hey guys, it’s me hmsshayann, and today I will be talking about another core class which is Math.

I will be talking about a homework that I did and I was proud of. It was calcudoku, calcudoku is almost the same as sudoku but it is with numbers. All the rules apply to calcudoku, you can’t have the same number in the same row or column. At first, I thought this would be easy because you have to put the numbers once in a column and a row, but it wasn’t to me. There was a twist, the numbers were 1-9, and in so many boxes, there was an equation. So you had to put the numbers that equal that number that it is asking you to get. So, it took me so many tries that my dad had made the exact box on a google doc so I can do it and the paper that I was supposed to turn in, will look cleaner and it would be easier to read. I really enjoyed the challenge of doing the calcudoku. I’d like to do it again!

Here is a link to my work. Please click on these numbers.

Core Classes – Language Arts

Hey guys, it’s me hmsshayann, today I will be talking about one of my core classes and it is Language Arts.

I will be talking about one of the thing I did in LA class that I am most proud of. It was my essay about Alcatraz.

Did the Anglin Brothers make It?

Some people believe that the Anglin Brothers made it out of Alcatraz but, I am one of those people who don’t believe that they didn’t make it. Here is some history about the brothers. According to Legends of America, they were born into a family of 13 children. Sons of George Robert Anglin and Rachael Van Miller Anglin, that were seasonal farm workers. The brothers were bank robbers. In 1956, they were both arrested and given a 15-20 year sentences, and sent to Atlanta Penitentiary.

Later they were sent to the Florida State Prison and then to Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary in Kansas. When they tried to escape from Leavenworth, they were sent to Alcatraz with John arriving on October 21, 1960 and Clarence arriving on January 10, 1961. They began to plan an escape attempt with Frank Morris and Allen West. I don’t believe that the brothers made it out because investigators only found a raft.

Investigators only found a raft nearby Angel Island. According to Did You Know Facts, they also found a plastic bag that belonged to the brothers. It contained photos and addresses of friends and relatives. Authorities investigated the escape for 17 years, but never came up with any promising clues or information. Investigators also found a body floating by the bay but was never identified. The case was finally closed in 1979 and was declared dead.

I believe that the brothers died while paddling in the cold waters of San Francisco Bay. Investigators only found a raft but no one that used the raft. Also the family of the brothers claim that they went to Mexico, but I don’t know if that is really true because why would they tell investigators where they could have gone. I would think they wouldn’t say anything. I strongly don’t believe that the brothers made it and I don’t know if we will ever know if they made it out and survived the rough waters of San Francisco Bay.

I really liked doing this essay because it is mysterious so you can state your opinion.
