SBC Week 10: Reflection

Hi everyone,

This is the last week of SBC. So today I will be writing a reflection. There are some questions and I have to ask a parent/relative.

  1. How many weeks of the challenge did you participate in?   I have started with challenge 3 and then progressed. I actually started with the first post called “My Message.”
  2. How many posts did you write in the ten week period? I have written 10 in all.
  3.  How many comments did you receive from classmates, teachers, or other visitors?  I have received 5 comments.
  4. Which post did you enjoy writing the most and why? I enjoyed writing “Trimester One Portfolio” because I was able to show the work that I am proud of and why. I felt proud because I felt like I accomplished a lot in the time I started school.
  5. Which web tools did you use to show creativity on your blog? I used Creative Commons and my own photos.
  6. What are your plans for your blog now? Will you keep posting? I will post here and there because I know I will be busy over Winter break but I hope that I will be able to post on my trip to Japan. I also know that we will have a ton of homework that will be handed every day.

Asking my grandparent

  1. What were your first impressions of this blog? – My grandpa said it looked very professional.
  2. What captured your attention? – The Student Blogging Challenge Logo on the right side.
  3. What distracted you on the blog? – The font size is too small to read and look at while scrolling through the blog.
  4. What suggestions can you give me to improve my blog? – If I could be able to fix my font and font size of my header page. It’s too small and the style could be more appealing.

That’s all for today,

SBC Week 9: Coding

Hi everyone,

Today I will be reviewing one of the coding games. The game is called Code Avengers. You will have to go through a series of tasks of coding. A restaurant wants to use a robot to do jobs, we need to code the robot to do the tasks that the owner wants it to do. There are instructions that tell what to do, but they don’t give exact numbers all the time. That’s when you need to figure out what you’re going to put. I had to code the pen in this case to write the letter “F” and “A”. If you don’t know how to put the correct labels in the spot, there is this lightbulb in the bottom right-hand corner. It’s kind of hard unless it’s just me because I don’t code on a daily base.

But I kind of got the hang of it. It’s really cool that the computer follows what you put down, so if it makes a mistake, you will need to fix. There are 5 tasks to finish. The “F” “A” is the sign for the restaurant. After you finish task 1, there will be a mini quiz about how many times you need to rotate 90 degrees and move 350 pixels. That was from the last task that you had to do to complete task 1. In task 2, there are more codes you need to put in at times. One of the codes is called, “Repeat ____ times” is a tool that will make your code repeat as many times that is needed.

In section 2, you will have to fix a traffic jam. The robot will have to make the cars go the right way so that there are no crashes. You will have to create lines to make the two lanes. The cars are supposed to follow them because well, that’s the rule when you drive. I thought that this game was very interesting even though I didn’t play on it for too long. We were instructed to on a game for at least 5 minutes. I’m glad that I was able to understand a little bit more about how to code what coding does.

That’s all for today,

SBC Week 8: Family Celebrations; Christmas Brunch

Hi everyone,

So today, I will be talking about one of the celebrations that my family and I celebrate together. It’s Christmas Brunch. Every year, we all meet up at Orchids at Halekulani. If you’re wondering what Orchids at Halekulani is, it’s a restaurant located in Halekulani. Halekulani is a hotel located in Waikiki by the beach. The view of the ocean is so amazing. The restaurant is located right next to the ocean. So you can hear the ocean waves and smell the salty air. You could just walk right out and the ocean will be right there. But the bad thing is that it is an open concept. Which means that they don’t use A.C., they use fans and the breeze. It means that the flies are around, so you need to watch out for the flies. But the place is so amazing. The food over there is so good and plus, there is a buffet of different types of food there.

There is sushi, salad, turkey, ham, roast beef, roasted pig, popovers, omelet bar, fruits, desserts, and much more. Usually, my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Orchids have a wide selection for breakfast. Their breakfast menu has Japanese and American breakfast. The best thing about Christmas Brunch is, being able to see everyone at once. We hardly ever see each other unless it’s a family gathering. But sometimes I hang out with my cousin who is about 6 months younger than me.

There is also an ice cream bar. Oh boy, that’s one of the best parts. In the freezer, there is a wide selection of flavors of ice cream and they also have another table filled with all different kind of toppings. When it’s Christmas, there is this beautiful tree by the fireplace. It’s so amazing. We all take family pictures by it and the tree is decorated with many ornaments. My dad’s 3 other siblings take pictures with their own family. Then my dad siblings and he take pictures together and then all of the grandchildren take a picture. Christmas isn’t always about the presents, it’ about being with loved ones, having fun together, and most importantly, spending quality time as a family.
